Angela Brower

Rising young American mezzo-soprano Angela Brower is currently a member of the ensemble at the Bayerische Staatsoper and is the recipient of the prestigious 2009 Munich Festival Prize. She has recently celebrated an outstanding critical and public success as Nicklausse in the Bayerische Staatsoper’s new production of “Les Contes d’Hoffmann, alongside Rolando Villazón and Diana Damrau. Süddeutsche Zeitung wrote “never strained and spinning the longest cantilenas completely naturally: Angela Brower, a discovery”, while Le Figaro praised her success and “radiant” performance. This season Angela Brower can be heard as Cherubino (Nozze di Figaro), Dorabella (Cosi fan tutte), Wellgunde in Wagner´s Ring Cylce, Zweite Dame (Die Zauberflöte).

Biography:

Rising young mezzo-soprano Angela Brower was raised in Mesa, Arizona and studied at Arizona State University and Indiana University. During her studies, she began an active concert career and developed her operatic repertoire to include such roles as Cherubino (Le nozze di Figaro) and Hansel (Hänsel and Gretel).
