  • On July 9 and 13 at the Bayerische Staatsoper, Joseph Calleja sings Cavaradossi in Puccini's Tosca, opposite Angela Gheorghiu in the title role, with Thomas Hampson as Scarpia. Afterwards he travels to Malta, where on July 21 he sings a concert with Eros Ramazzotti.

  • From August 12 - 28, Kate Lindsey stars as Nerone in Monteverdi's L'Incoronazione di Poppea at the Salzburger Festspiele. This was the first opera to be based on historical events rather than myth, legend or fiction. William Christie leads the performances, which also feature Sonya Yoncheva as Poppea, Stéphanie d’Oustrac as Ottavia, Carlo Vistoli as Ottone and Renato Dolcini as Seneca.
