French mezzo-soprano Gaëlle Arquez is one of the rising stars of the opera world. After graduating from the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique de Paris, the young mezzo-soprano made her debut at the Opéra Bastille in Michael Haneke’s 2013 version of Don Giovanni (Zerlina) under the direction of Philippe Jordan. Ever since she has been invited to sing in many of the most renowned opera houses in the world. Nominated “Révélation Lyrique” at the “Victoires de la Musique 2011”, Gaëlle Arquez is now an exclusive recording artist for Deutsche Grammophon with whom she released her highly anticipated debut recording “Ardente Flamme” in 2017.

  • From September 5 - 15, Gaëlle Arquez stars as the Muse/Nicklausse in Les contes d’Hoffmann at the Wiener Staatsoper. Dmitry Korchak sings the title role with Luca Pisaroni as the Four Villains and Olga Peretyatko as Olympia, Giulietta and Antonia. Frédéric Chaslin conducts.

    The performances on September 11 and 15 will be recorded by Radio Ö1 and broadcast on September 21 at 19:30 local time.
