  • 21.04.2017 - Kate Lindsey to release her debut album with Alpha Classicas

  • "The mezzo-soprano, who is currently in Los Angeles performing the role of Nicklause in "Les Contes d'Hoffmann," will collaborate with jazz pianist Baptiste Trotignon.

Entitled "Thousands of Miles," the album will feature the music of immigrant composers, including Kurt Weill, Alma Mahler, Zemlinsky, and Korngold.

According to the Mezzo's official website, this is the first of several recordings with Alpha Classics over the next few years. The CD will also be followed by a concert tour in coming seasons, the first of which takes place on June 10, 2017, at the Schloss Elmau in the Bavarian Alps.

"The works on 'Thousands of Miles' all share a deep, complex search for a sense of belonging," the mezzo stated. "A search for a collective spirit, for a physical and emotional home. In exploring this idea, Baptiste and I brought together our two very different musical worlds. It was a journey where we both had to open ourselves up and make ourselves vulnerable, myself as a classically-trained singer, and Baptiste, who has rhythm in his DNA. Together, I hope we developed a deep mutual understanding of each other's musical language and use it to enrich our own."
