Described as "one of today's most exciting new operatic voices" (Independent), South African soprano Pumeza Matshikiza is one of today’s rising opera stars. An exclusive Decca Classics recording artist, her debut album “Voice of Hope” was released in 2014. Her second album “Arias” with arias by Puccini, Catalani, Ravel and Mozart and songs by Fauré was released in May 2016.

  • 04.11.2019 - Pumeza Matshikiza: Rusalka at Vlaanderen Opera

  • Pumeza Matshikiza ends the year reprising her portrayal of the water nymph, Rusalka, with the Vlaanderen Opera from December 12 - 31 in Antwerpen, and travelling to Ghent for the second half of the run, which takes place from January 11 - 23.

    The Prince will be sung by Mykhailo Malafii, Kyungho Kim and Tineke Van Ingelgem, who share the role. Completing the cast are Goderdzi Janelidze as Vodník, Maria Riccarda Wesseling as Ježibaba and Karen Vermeiren as The foreign princess.
