  • On February 17, Deutsche Grammophon releases a complete recording of Massenet’s masterpiece “Werther” starring Rolando Villazon in one of his signature roles, Sophie Koch as Charlotte and conducted by Antonio Pappano. This new release is a live recording from the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden. The performances in May 2011 marked a triumphant return to Covent Garden for Rolando Villazon which prompted The Guardian to exclaim “[Villazon’s] artistry is as astonishing as ever, fusing sound, sense and gesture in an uncompromising quest for veracity”.
